    There are over 250 varieties of camellia, most of which grow in their native asia. The coamellia was firt taken to europe in the 1700s by botanist for who the flower was named. Camellias became very sought after and costly in the 19th century. Women of the 19th century regularly wore them as corsages on their dresses or hats.
